RRB NTPC Apply Online 2026: Step-by-Step Form Guide at rrbapply.gov.in
The RRB NTPC apply online 2026 window is short and it does not forgive mistakes. Graduate applications under CEN 06/2026 close on 6 November 2026, and Undergraduate applications under CEN 07/2026 close on 13 November 2026, both at 11:59 pm on rrbapply.gov.in. Together the two notices carry 5,236 posts. This guide walks through the whole form — account creation, login, verification, post preferences and payment — plus the errors that get applications rejected every single cycle.
Before you open the portal
Two checks save more applications than anything else. First, your Aadhaar: the name and date of birth on it must match your Class 10 certificate exactly. A mismatch can take a week or more to fix at an Aadhaar centre, and neither deadline waits for you. Second, decide your RRB and your post order before you start. You can apply to one RRB only, and the preferences you enter cannot be changed afterwards. A post you leave out of your list is treated as "not interested" forever. The vacancy tables on our RRB NTPC homepage show how the posts split across boards, so choose with the numbers in front of you.
Step 1: Create your account (or log in)
Open rrbapply.gov.in and click Create an Account. You will enter your name, date of birth, mobile number and email, and set a password. Read this part twice: account details can never be edited later. A spelling mistake in your name here follows you to document verification. If you applied for any RRB notice in 2024, 2025 or earlier in 2026, skip this step — log in with your existing account. One person with two accounts is one of the classic ways to get flagged.
Step 2: Verify your identity
The portal asks you to verify with Aadhaar or DigiLocker. Do it that way if you possibly can. Applications verified with other ID documents face stricter scrutiny at later stages, and a DigiLocker-verified Class 10 certificate also makes document verification smoother.
Step 3: Fill the form and choose your posts
Open the CEN link for your level — CEN 06/2026 for Graduate posts, CEN 07/2026 for Undergraduate. Fill in your education details: degree by the closing date for Graduate posts; Class 12 with at least 50% marks for Undergraduate posts (SC, ST, PwBD, ex-servicemen and higher-qualification holders need only a pass). Then choose your one RRB and rank every post and zone you would genuinely accept, in order. Check the medical standard of each post as you rank — if you fail the medical for your allotted post, no alternative is offered.
Your photograph is taken live through your webcam or phone camera against a plain background. Do not try to upload an old studio photo where the portal asks for a live capture; mismatched or unclear photos are a top rejection reason.
Step 4: Pay the fee and submit
The fee is ₹500 for General, OBC and EWS candidates, of which ₹400 comes back after you appear in CBT 1. It is ₹250 for SC, ST, women, PwBD, ex-servicemen, transgender, minority and EBC candidates, fully refunded after CBT 1 (minus bank charges in both cases). Pay online by card, net banking or UPI. Your application counts only once the fee is paid, so note the separate fee deadlines too: 8 November for Graduate forms and 15 November for Undergraduate forms. Save the confirmation page and your registration number somewhere safe — you will need them for the admit card, the result and the scorecard.
Login problems people actually face
- Forgot password: use the Forgot Password link on rrbapply.gov.in; the reset goes to your registered email and mobile.
- Portal very slow: normal in the last 48 hours. Apply in the morning, and never refresh the page while a payment is processing — check your bank and the portal status after a wait instead.
- Old account not opening: try the email and mobile you used in that cycle, not your current ones.
- Still stuck: the official helpdesk works 10 am to 5 pm on working days at 9592001188 and 0172-5653333, or [email protected].
The five mistakes that kill applications
- Applying twice. Multiple applications — to two RRBs or even the same one — get all of them rejected, and can debar you from future RRB exams.
- Waiting for the last day. Payment gateways jam, OTPs lag, and the window shuts at 11:59 pm sharp.
- Careless account details. They cannot be edited. Ever. Check against your Class 10 certificate.
- Skipping posts in the preference list. A left-out post is a post you refused.
- Paying an agent or a look-alike site. The only charge is the official fee on rrbapply.gov.in. Our download page covers how to spot the fake apps and sites that appear every cycle.
Made an honest error in the form itself? There is a correction window after each deadline — 9 to 18 November for Graduate, 16 to 25 November for Undergraduate — at ₹250 per correction. Account details and your chosen RRB are the two things it cannot fix. Once your form is in, shift your focus to the exam itself: our syllabus and exam pattern guide shows what CBT 1 actually asks.
